Texas Executions
Scribbled by Lewis Burwell

The death penalty is alive and well in the great state of Texas. Thank God. Various whiners had put a brief damper on the most efficient state in the death penalty "standings," but Texas has bounced back.

Texas is averaging two per week, with a goal of making up lost ground after truth about enzyte the Supreme Court halted all executions that utilized lethal injections. The halt was brief, but just long enough to create a log-jam in Texas. That's getting fixed.

One critic of the increase in the pace of executions, Alvin Kelly, said that, "It's just the way of Texas," and, "They're just killing people." Oh, yeah, Kelly sort of killed a family of three, including a 22 month old baby.

I, for one, applaud Texas for stepping up the pace. Let's clear out ALL of the stagnant death rows across the nation. The inhabitants of them have been found guilty, sentenced to die, and just linger there, wasting our money and time. Get the job done already!

I'm sure that opponents of the death penalty will label this post as offensive. It can't be nearly as offensive as having your family wiped out by one of the monsters that are scheduled to be executed.

Alaskan Stoned Killer Gets Three Years
Scribbled by Lewis Burwell

In 2005, Timothy Wood got high on pot and then got behind the wheel of his Chevy Blazer. He crossed over the center line, and killed 53 year old Diane Bahnson. Blood tests showed that he had THC in his system, but the judge in the case ruled that due to a technical error with the blood test, he could only be convicted of negligent homicide, instead of second degree murder.

The stoner admitted his wrong-doing, and apologized to the family for killing Diane. His guilt is not in question. The judge gave him a slap on the wrist for killing a woman, based on a technical issue.

What in the hell is going on in Alaska?

Clearing the Air
Scribbled by Lewis Burwell

My partner, Hans Bret, is out of town. He does not always agree with me, but he never fails to have my back. I wouldn't fail to have his, lest I hang my head in shame. We do, however, disagree from time to time. That's the beauty of intelligent conversation; we can disagree, and still be friends.

Here's some of my beliefs in an organized list. I'm looking forward to Hans' response, since I value his opinion.

Immigration
Immigration is a simple issue. We have laws in place that cover this issue, and those that ignore those laws need to leave this nation post haste. Those that would call me racist for saying that should really start basing their decisions on common sense, not emotion.

Gun Control
Gun control means hitting what you aim at. Gun control doesn't prevent crime; this is a fact (try google; it works pretty good). This unnatural fear that the left has manifested over firearms is disturbing. I wish they would have picked a different household item, like dishwashers. I could kill plenty of people with a baseball bat, a rake, even a hoe. Guns are not evil; violent people are.

Education
Trying to rewrite history should be a crime. Public schools are rapidly deteriorating to a level of disgust that is extremely worrisome. Political activists that decide to become teachers need to put their political beliefs in check. I've got a radical suggestion for them: Just teach the damned facts!

Religion
I worship my God in my own way. I don't need some stuffed suit to tell me how to do it. I also don't understand what putting the Ten Commandments in a courtroom has to do with Congress passing laws...we are all familiar with the 1st Amendment, aren't we? Those that whine about separation of church and state need to familiarize themselves with that nifty little document known as our Constitution. The paid members of the ACLU should all be made to get real jobs.

Global Warming
Our planet goes through cycles of cooling and warming. When the last ice age ended, it began to warm. It will continue to do so until the onset of the next cooling phase, and subsequent ice age. Being arrogant enough to believe that humans are warming the planet is laughable, at best. The Goracal would have us believe that using your laptop will cause a hurricane in the southern hemisphere, but actual science simply yawns and waits.

Nanny Laws
I don't need the nanny government to protect me or my children from the evils of various things. Movie theater popcorn is something that I can make up my own mind about. I don't need the government to tell me how to raise my children. If I don't like what's on television, I'll change the channel, or not let my kids watch it. The FCC needs to be made to do what they were originally designed to do (making sure broadcasters don't step all over each other). My previous post about them was their only handout.

Oil
See my previous post about energy. The left is gaining ground when it comes to our own impotence in the department of energy. We refuse to harvest our own oil reserves, and then bitch about foreign oil prices? Am I the only one that sees the absurdity in that? Drill for the damned oil! If we don't, a stronger nation will! China and Russia are already drilling off of our coasts...is that better for the planet?

Kids
Child molesters (aka: pedophiles) should be shot. Rope is even cheaper. I'd volunteer to shoot those monsters.
On the opposite end of the spectrum are those that would shield children from any and all aspects of the real world. No more dodgeball, no more competition, no more grades...what a load of crap. These clowns that want to "protect" kids from all of this competition and stress are failing to prepare them for the real world. That's a crime in itself.
